Today the Margarita Segundo was lucky to fish a Hammerhead Shark around 130kg . We were informed by another boat that there was a large hammerhead on the surface about a mile from where we were , so we quickly reeled in the lures for Marlin and prepared a small tuna on a wire rig ready to have a go at the shark. The bait was rigged to an 80lb rod and we then searched the open water where we finally spotted the fin on the calm surface . After 10 minutes and 4 or 5 attempts by the shark to take we hooked up . After 40 minutes of hard work in the chair by Leonardo our fisherman from Italy we managed to get the fish next to the boat on the leader where we removed the hooks and released the fish back to the sea hopefully for another day .
We continued later fishing for Blue Marlin but no luck ,Marlin fishing has gone quiet at the moment, hope it improves at the weekend when we compete in the Marlin Cup for Champions in Marina Rubicon .

On the way in we spotted two more Hammerheads but unfortunately had no more tuna for bait .

Another day tomorrow hoping to see Marlin as there is a lot of bait and Dolphins about .
